| Rosine Gacier, known as Madame Isabelle Lancray, was born in 1914. |

At the age of 16, she already knew that she wanted to have a beauty salon, an ambition that she has
carefully nutured and finally achieved in later years. Before, in the age of 24, she became a
journalist for Paris-Match as the member of the team that created the magazine.
During the beginning of worldwar II, she interrupted her career as a journalist to go in to advertising.

| Returning to beauty in 1945 Isabelle Lancray took her first steps on the triumphant road to beauty
care and set up a manufacturing association in Courbevoie. Her products soon become well
known and very successful.

In 1953 she finally opened her first salon in Rue Francois 1, one of the most famous districts in
Paris. Here she organized training and management courses and devoted all her energies in the
interests of Beauty.
At the same time, Mrs. Isabelle Lancray was a businesswoman involved in public relations work.
But, she was not satisfied with merely creating products. She wanted even more of the
bewitching world of the professional beautician. She worked tirelessly with schools and colleges
and developed numerous official diplomas in beauty care. She joined the National Association of
beauty salons and became President in 1962.In 1968 she formed the famous French Beauty and
cosmetic Association.
Without a husband and children, she worked relentlessly, day and night. She also invited her
business associates to her home and country residence. Her numerous activities took her
around the world to many countries including Russia and the Lebanon in order to promote her
brand name and sell her products.
Meanwhile, her reputation had become so remarkable that a leading French evening newspaper
wrote as follows about her product range: “Mrs. Isabelle Lancray is taking on the American giant.”
Her vivacious beauty and extreme elegance gave her the aura of a star in Beauty.
Mrs. Isabelle Lancray died on 12 April 1989 but her concepts, philosophy and work live on.
